Tattoo Aftercare

Tattoo Armour is a popular aftercare product designed to promote healing and minimize damage to your new tattoo. Here's a general guide on how to use it:

1. Clean the Tattoo:

  • Wash your hands! Then gently wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and a mild, unscented soap.  (No prolonged water use, no saunas, hot tubs, long showers for 10 days minimum, preferably 2 weeks.)

  • Pat the area dry with a clean, soft towel.

2. Apply Ointment:

  • Apply a thin layer of NON-SCENTED Ointment to the entire tattooed area.

  • Ensure the product covers the entire tattoo and surrounding skin IN A THIN LAYER.

3.  Apply the Tattoo Armour Pad:

  • Cover the tattoo and the surrounding area with the tattoo pad. Ensure that it will stay in place with tape, gauze, or breathable bandaging.

  • Make sure that the wrapping is not too constricting. Your tattoo needs to breathe.

  • Change the pad, and bandage, tape, or gauze daily or as needed (every 24 hrs minimum, do not leave on continuously).

4. Repeat:

  • Repeat these steps 2-3 times (sometimes per day, depending on tattoo)  until your tattoo is done with the leaking stage. Usually only 3 days, then moisturize daily.

  • Follow the specific instructions provided with your Tattoo Armor product. Also look up instructions on their website.

Additional Tips:

  • Avoid sun exposure: Protect your healing tattoo from direct sunlight.  No Tanning for 3 weeks. Use sunscreen to protect your tattoo in the long run from sun damage.

  • Limit soaking: Avoid soaking the tattoo in water for extended periods, such as taking long baths or swimming, for 10 days, preferably 2 weeks. This includes saunas, swimming, and baths.

  • Avoid scratching: Resist the urge to scratch or pick at the tattoo, as this can lead to infection or scarring. Your tattoo is a wound, so please let it heal.

  • Moisturize: Once your tattoo is healed, use a fragrance-free moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated. There are different moisturizers for different climates.

Remember:
While Tattoo Armor can be a helpful tool for healing, it's essential to follow your tattoo artist's specific aftercare instructions. If you have any concerns or experience unusual histamine symptoms, consult with your tattoo artist or a healthcare professional.
